CREATING hEALTHY KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, AND BELIEFS in schools
Recently, a co-worker was “living” her latest and greatest detox/cleanse in the school district office…
I only know this because another co-worker came into my office to vent about this person’s “getting everyone around her involved” effort. She was tired of hearing about it. I listened and recalled a recent chat I had with the “cleansing worker” talking to me about her daughter’s 8th grade friend who seems to be presenting with an eating disorder (30# weight loss, controlling food intake, etc…).
This was the perfect set up for this morning when the “cleansing worker” stopped by my office to tell me that she was off her cleanse over the weekend and ate everything in sight.
What to say? Just listen? …
How does this fit into being a school RDN? Plain and simple, we have to do a better job getting healthy information out to our school communities. Healthy Stuff. Mind. Body. Plain and simple, right?!
Any other RDN’s able to relate? How do you handle these situations? Feel free to pm me.
