TRAILBLAZE

​As the school year is smoothing over, October offers an opportunity to fine tune and pick up speed.
Trailblaze.  Make it count. Make an impact. Make a difference.
I was recently reminded of our crucial role in the lives of students.   And how trailblazing is a choice; it can be easy or hard; it's not always complicated...
We’ve all heard that we need to greet each student in the lunch line with a smile, with kindness.  We WANT students to come through our lunch lines; we NEED to make them feel welcome and GREET them with WARMTH.  We may be the best part of their day. 
This preaching proved to be true one day last month for one particular student who was having a particularly BAD day.  In this instance, both the principal and teacher reached out to me to thank our staff for their service on this one day for this one student.   You see, this student was having a BAD morning.  He came into the classroom after lunch with a renewed spirit. He had a SMILE on his face.  The teacher noticed a big change in his demeanor.  She decided to ask him what had changed in his day.  He replied the “lunch ladies are so nice…they told me they like my smile…they played fun music…the school lunch was my favorite today…they care” …
WOW! We all have that potential, that choice to spread our goodness and positive spirit. Whoever knew that trailblazing can start with a smile? What an opportunity to make it count, make an impact and make a difference.  Trailblaze.
